    Item Description :
    This is a vintage Japanese pottery tea bowl of Bizen Ware, which was
    made by the 1st class potter, Masami Nishikawa (1938-2004)
    about 30 years ago.
    He was a pupil of the National Human Treasure, Toyo Kaneshige.
    The signature of the potter is carved on the bottom.  The original wooden box with the signature of the potter is also included.
    Bizen ware is a type of Japanese pottery most identifiable by its ironlike hardness, reddish brown color, absence of glaze, and marklings resulting from wood-burning kiln firing.
