    RARE LOCKET WITH MINIATURE PAINTED PORTRAIT ON WAFER OF "DUCHESS OF DEVONSHIRE" -
    If you are a collector of miniature painted portraits on wafer, from the early part of the 19th Century, then you will definitely want to consider this piece of British Royalty; The Duchess of Devonshire and created after Gainsborough as seen in the name tag that will accompany this fine antique locket. The finest of detail is captured in this exquisite portrait. I have placed a nickle next to the locket for comparison of scale. The hasp and hinged closure work as perfectly as the day this work of art was created. The painting is under a protective domed piece of glass. Please note, this locket is most likely not gold fill, but I believe to be constructed of brass. Nevertheless, I dare you to find another easily wearable piece of history around your neck that contains such a lovely miniature artwork. The the exterior of the brass locket shows minor signs of wear on backside and the top loop or hasp. The hinge opens and closes perfectly. I guarantee the next owner will cherish this tiny wearable miniature portrait.
