This is a rare Japanese
IMARI PORCELAIN MONUMENTAL PUNCH BOWL
, a fine decorative work of art.
This large bowl:
- is beautifully modeled and styled in the Imari color palette with white background decorated with iron red, blue, orange, and extensive fine gold gilding;
-
is a Large Japanese Imari porcelain footed punch bowl, heavily potted with scalloped edge rim and gilt highlights. The exterior body is decorated with alternating bands of tapestry reserves; the inside top rim reserve is in cobalt blue with decorative medallions; the center interior has blue flowering potted plant motif surrounded by tapestry reserves; there are large floral tassels to the interior and exterior.
-has glazed underside bottom, and is marked on the center with a large Japanese makers mark in iron red, gold, and black.
-has glazed raised rim foot decorated on the outside with a concentric blueline; the bottom rim base is unglazed.

The IMARI PORCELAIN MONUMENTAL PUNCH BOWL is in very good condition- it is noted there is a fine spider line crack on the underside (see photos). Condition status includes normal glaze losses, normal rubbing, wear, and firing flaws. Overall, this item is sound, having no chips, cracks, or major defects, and having no apparent repairs or restorations. Please see all photos which are a part of this description. Photos have been taken in indirect sunlight, reflections and lighting spots and shadows that may appear as irregularities do not necessarily indicate defects and are not necessarily chips, cracks, or discoloration.
