    Description

    Japanese Arita late Edo period blue and white porcelain bowl decorated in the interior with a dragon emerging from clouds to chase the flaming pearl of wisdom.  Five Genji mon are spaced around the exterior.
    6 1/4" diameter x 2 1/2" high.  The "bull's eye" style base generally dates the bowl to the Bakumatsu period (circa 1840-1870).
    There are several typical production flaws and there is a fine long hairline crack in the center.  From the collection of a former expatriate to Asia in the 1980s.
