Description

Scarce early photograph shows what looks like is a Japanese cavalry brigade riding into China during the Second Sino-Japanese War.
Second Sino-Japanese War: A military conflict fought primarily between the Republic of China and the Empire of Japan from July 7, 1937, to September 2, 1945. It was the largest Asian war in the 20th century and it made up more than 50 percent of the casualties in the Pacific War (if the 1937–1941 period is taken into account).
By 1938 four cavalry brigades had been set aside from the infantry for independent service in the wide Chinese hinterland.
Photograph measures 3 x 4 inches and is in excellent condition with no bends, tears, or creases and is very sharp and has strong tones with good contrast and clarity.
