    his auction is for a very large & fine vintage handmade Native American sterling silver Bennett C-31 bolo with turquoise & coral stones.  The silverwork has a decorated border on two sides that could represent feathers.  There is a large turquoise (1 5/8" x 7/8") and nice coral set on the bolo. The textured turquoise is a light blue-green color with dark matrix.  The turquoise and coral stones have nice depth and extend out from the bolo.
    The bolo is subtantial in size at 2 1/2" high by 2" wide and weighing 53.6 grams.
    Based on the silverwork and design, I
    believe the bolo was handcrafted by a very skilled Navajo artisan
    The bolo is not signed as was common for older bolos.  The fitting on the bolo is marked Bennett Pat. Pend C-31.  This type of clasp was used from 1957 - 1967 which dates the bolo as vintage. The bolo & tips test as sterling silver using a GXL Next Tester which is non-invasive.  There is a dark brown braided leather cord on the bolo.
    There are no chips or cracks or defects in the large turquoise and coral stones. The stones appear to be secure in the settings.  There is a nice constrasting patina on the bolo & tips.  The braided leather cord shows some gentle use.  There could be surface scratches from use.  The Bennett clasp works properly and the cord can be adjusted without force.  Overall, the bolo is in excellent vintage condition with expected wear.  No damage.  No repairs.
