    Description

    Welcome!
WHAT IS GREAT ABOUT IT:  This watch bracelet is an example of the very best early work by Frank Vacit, using techniques of finely detailed inlaying into silver of shells and stones in the form of an eagle dancer kachina. It is a signed piece and one of his best works. I have a matching bolo in my store now of his eagle dancer kachina. It would be a wonderful thing to wear the watch band with the bolo. I think this probably can work with an Apple watch or a great old watch. The size of the watch would dictate the total size of the band. Also, one could create a removable piece with inlaid or set stones to be inserted where the watch might be. This might be the best watch band I've seen! The inlay consists of melon shell, mother of pearl, jet, turquoise and red abalone, all natural stones and shells.
Frank Vacit was one of the most renowned Zuni artists in history and this piece is emblematic of his best work.
    BACKGROUND:
His work was sold to and accumulated by C. G. Wallace and appeared often in the Sotheby's catalog of C. G. Wallace's holdings. It is in the best museums and galleries and is among the most highly prized and priced work. This is a great opportunity to add a spectacular piece by Frank Vacit to your collection.
The eagle kachina appears as a side dancer in the ceremonial dance called Hilili in the winter and the corn dances. Frank Vacit created the design in silver overlay and mosaic and channel inlay.
    CONDITION: excellent vintage, wearable, collectible.
    MEASUREMENTS:
    • length end to end of the silver is 6"
    • width at the widest is 1-3/8" and the clasp area width is about 7/8"
    • inlaid stones and shells include natural melon shell, mother of pearl, turquoise, jet, red abalone.
    • metal is unmarked which is usual, but it is sterling silver .925
    • signed by the master artist, Frank Vacit, Zuni
SUMMARY: This watch bracelet is one of the finest eagle dancer inlays done by Frank Vacit at his best and it is museum worthy in every respect. It can be used with various sized and styles of watches of course and also can be adapted by creating a removable piece instead of a watch with inlaid or set stones. This is a highly collectible work of art, whether it's bought for display or to be worn.
