Superb Japanese Antique Imari bowl of wonderful quality. Magnificent hand decoration in polychrome enamels depicting numerous wise sages, sennin, and scholars, all clad in vibrant kimonos. The hand painting is spectacular, and the lively and colorful imagery is further embellished in brilliant giltwork. This exquisite bowl measures approximately 7.25 inches across and 3 inches high. In excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks, just minor wear commensurate with age.
