Big Jon ElectronicsFuzz Factory
Black Edition
As life starts to return to normal here, we decided to do a special run of our usual Fuzz Factories - but this time with semi-gloss black powdercoat and some silver knobs -
and at the same great price!
This is the same tried-and-true Fuzz Factory formula that we've been using for so long, just with a new look. The Fuzz Factory is one of the most well-loved modern guitar-mangling boxes out there, and this guy is an accurate clone of the original, with
Volume, Gate, Compression, Drive,
and
Stability
controls, in that order, all packed into a pedalboard-friendly 125B enclosure (albeit one that's fallen on its side). The black powdercoat base is a great start for those of you who would like to design your own graphics for yours!
Each pedal is point-to-point
handwired
and
hand-assembled
with carefully-selected parts. We select Germanium transistors for these that have enough gain on tap to drive the pedal into self-oscillating madness; this will be the one pedal where you
don't
just crank all the knobs to 11 and leave em'. Optimal settings depend on taste and your guitar+pickups, but you'll certainly be able to get a multitude of different sounds out of these through experimentation...including some rampant, cascading waterfalls of
fuzz
.
While it's known to make some out-of-control gnarly sounds, the Fuzz Factory is also quite capable of making some milder melodic sounds as well - the pedal's wide breadth of controllable options means that it can really span the gap from *mild* to *wild*. Unlike many other fuzzes, the Fuzz Factory is
not
particularly scooped in the mids - this means that it's quite a bit easier to cut through the mix, not to mention fewer headaches for your sound guy. There's enough amplification around to get the output up to whatever level you need it to be at, too.
In addition to the black powdercoat, there are five silver knobs to control it and a blue LED to let you know if it's on or not (though, trust me, you'll know when it's on). Modern conveniences like true-bypass switching and a Boss-style 9v power jack are there for ya as well (unfortunately, you cannot use a battery with this guy). Local pickup is often available - write us a note on here and we'll get back to you with some timing options (or the answers to any other questions you may have) as soon as possible!
Thanks for looking and
long live the fuzz!
