    Description

Antique Japanese MEIJI Period SATSUMA Bowl
    10.5"
No Chips No Cracks, No Crazing.
    Shogun on Horseback Training Scene
The Shogun scene is faded from sun perhaps. It could be restored if you wanted that, because the stippling texture is still there. The trim is in perfect condition. The outer side is perfect as well. The KANJI stamp on the bottom is marked with characters similar to the house of Kutani, but there are more characters handpainted in gold on the red square. They are little harder to discern. I am sure that it is the artist's name and perhaps the title of the scene.
According to Wkipedia the Meiji period lasted from October 23rd 1868 to July 30th 1912 so the bowl was made in that time period.
No Chips No Cracks, No Crazing.
