Remember that in TUBE CIRCUITS is ALWAYS BETTER use BIGGER RESISTORS instead the standard 1/2W. Why doing so you reduce the noise. If you need info on this matter, go on the AIKEN AMP website and look for the article about the resistor noise.
Infact, using CARBON FILM or CARBON COMPOSITION resistors in critical points like the first tube stage, if you use a 1W or 2W resistor instead the standard 1/2W, your amplifier will sound BETTER
