    Description:
    This is a rare and large Japanese Arita blue and white center bowl or basin from late Edo period.  The decoration style and theme is strongly influenced by Chinese Kraak and Shonzui ware that was exported to Japanese market in 17thC.
    The bowl has scallop shaped rim, with its inside outer-border decorated with "Three friends of winter" motif:  Bamboo in snow is with the cobalt blue ground, Pine and Cherry blossom are decorated with medallions.  Inside the bowl is a classic harbor landscape with old sages enjoying the scenic view.
