    Description

    Live Hornworms
    Live Hornworm Information:
The highest quality live hornworms are now being offered at Oregon Silkworms. Our small hornworms are from .5 – 1.5 inches.  We ship our hornworms with around 1 inch of food, which is enough to get small worms over 2 inches. Our Small cups contain at least 25 small live hornworms. The hornworm cups must be kept lid side down to allow the waste to fall away from the worms and food. Be sure to clean the cup out every day by taking the lid off and removing the waste. The hornworm cups should be stored around 80 degrees for faster growth, or as low at 60 degrees for slower hornworm growth.
    Small Live Hornworms:
If you have purchased small worms and want them to grow larger than the amount of food provided allows there are two options. The first option is you can purchase our hornworm food. The second option is to begin feeding the hornworms off to your reptiles, which leaves the remaining hornworms with more food as the number of worms in the cup decreases.
    Moth Care:
If you wish to breed the hornworm moths, ensure they emerge in a cage lined with screen or a burlap like material. The Material on the side of the cage allows the moths to climb and dry their wings. At this time, high humidity is required or they may be deformed. A hummingbird feeder filled with commercially available hummingbird food, the moths will drink from this and it will provide all of their required nutrition. After 3 days, the hornworm moths will begin to lay eggs. To get the moths to lay eggs, place a tomato plant in the enclosure, and they will lay eggs on the underside of the leaves. The eggs will hatch in 3-6 days after being laid.
