    Description

    Antique Japanese Arita Shallow Bowls or Rectangular Dish Plates
    Circa 1870. Each is date marked by an antique dealer.
    Decorated with cobalt blue and accented in gold gilding.
    Each measures about 6 1/2 by 5 inches wide. 1 5/8" tall.
    Depicted rustic dwelling beneath a pine tree near the shore.
    Boats are floating in the distance with a mountain range background.
    The red and gold seal visible on the front of each dish reads “Hi” and is found on many wares originating in the town of Arita.
    It is the first character of the word “Hizen” which is the name of the region in which Arita is found.
    Very nice antique condition. About 150 year old.
    A few impurities pushing through is an indication that it is aged from 1700s to mid 1800s.
    There are some glaze pops and mild age related wear. Please see close up photos.
