Description
1930’s VOLU-TONE 680P Lap Steel Amp.Made to pair with a Volu-tone lap steel, has a special jack to “energize” the strings on the instrument ( if you can fill me in on details of this I’d be delighted.) Just completely recapped and gone through, sounds AMAZING. Loud for its diminutive size, great compression at high volume. Original Rolla field coil speaker (heat shrink on speaker cable harness is to repair cracks in the wire’s insulation) Tubes are the ones that were in it when found, all 1930’s vintage- 80, 6C5, 6SF5, 6L6. Crumbled ac cord replaced. Great little amp for practice, studio, harp, etc.
Two peculiarities to this model- it has no on/off switch and the 1/4” jacks are short throw- something I have only seen in very early audio. A modern 1/4 inch plug works fine, but you must only insert it until it clicks, about half way. You could of course replace the original jacks with modern ones quite easily, and add a power switch, but then it would no longer be 100% authentic.
The leather handle is also in need of replacement. Thanks for bidding.
